Do not focus on weight. Do not focus on weight.  Do not focus on weight...

Focus on:  Food.

I'm beginning to really like not eating beans. Especially, not eating beans at every meal. I will probably have some this Saturday night when I have my first carb-load meal (because I have so many stockpiled to get rid of). But maybe not. They do not represent a large $ investment, so I may just bag beans for a while.

As much as I like not eating beans, I really like cheese. Welcome back into my life. Cheese is the only form of dairy I'm allowing myself, since all the nasty dairy parts have been fermented/bacteria-ized/naturally processed out of it... Of course, I'm only talking about good cheese. Speaking of which, I bought some more of one of my recent favorites, and realized that while I've been telling you it was 1000-day-old gruyere, it is actually gouda, 1000-day-old gouda cheese. That's what happens when you throw away the wrapper after opening...

I am hating the almonds I bought from BJ's. They do not crunch. I guess you get what you pay for. But good nuts are kind of expensive, and I'm already spending so much on premium (organic, natural) food... But I'm going to have to bite the bullet and chuck about 2 pounds of these, and replace them with something good.

Also, since I took it out of retirement, my George Foreman grill. I forgot just how useful this little appliance is. I don't have a model with removable plates, so it is a bit of a hassle to clean, but really, not too bad, and it has had some use without any visible deterioration of the non-stick surface (which I am always on the lookout for). So, thumbs-up to George's Chinese manufacturing plant.

Food still looks good. Does the foreman grill steam meat a little? Love you, Joan

The model I have, which has a variable heat setting, doesn't seem to steam meat. I preheat to high, then when the top and bottom are seared, I take it down. The meat in this pic is overcooked to my taste (I got distracted and left it on too long). A few days ago, I cooked the same exact meat and marinade, for exactly the right time - juicy to the max (one of my friends was disgusted, that's how I knew it was right, lol)
