Do not focus on weight. Do not focus on weight. Do not focus on weight...
Yesterday, a good day diet-wise, not so much as far as sleep goes.
I took a nap when I got home - about 3 hours' worth of 'nap'. It was before dinner, so by the time I got around to dinner it was late. I ended up going to bed later than I wanted to as a result, and didn't feel particularly well-rested today.
I determine whether I've gotten enough sleep the obvious way: How much energy do I have when I wake up. And, do I wake up on my own, or is it the alarm. When I haven't gotten enough sleep, it is always the alarm that wakes me. When I have, usually I wake up before the alarm.
I make that trip to the bathroom, and it becomes obvious how much energy I'm working with. Not enough, and I will go back to bed. Enough, and my day is started.
When I go back to bed, it is rare that I go back to sleep. Usually, I listen to NPR (that's my alarm) and read email, coming to real wakefulness very slowly.
That is how it was today.
Although I probably did get a total of 6-1/2 hours sleep, before and after going to bed, I'm not overly surprised to see a slight weight gain. After all, last night's late eating and small amount of sleep is a fact.
Am I concerned? Not a bit. Ever onward.
