Cognitive dissonance. That's what's going on with me today. Why?
I just had a major bout of 'retail therapy'. This, at a time when I'm all about getting rid of possessions, and when my philosophy doesn't consider materialism a step on the path.
So, what's the deal?
Well, the first thing is that what I'm buying - a camera and some accessories - doesn't take much room.
The second thing, is that the reason I'm trying to get rid of possessions is because I am going to travel, and I won't have use for them.
A camera is a travel accessory, in my mind. In fact, in my adult life, I've never traveled without one (even if events were such that I didn't use it, there was a camera with me).
Additionally, I am hoping to make use photography to make some extra pocket money in the future, so I needed a camera up to that task.
For this purpose, I got a Nikon, one from near the bottom of the line of cameras that have large (though not professional, full frame) sensors - the size of the sensor is the chief differentiator between amateur and professional, so you could call my camera a semi-pro, and I will be, like Emma Peel in the old BBC TV series, a "talented amateur" - at least, that's what I hope to become, and then transition to a part-time professional.
I have enjoyed photography my whole life, and it is something I can enjoy the rest of my life, no matter where I am...
That's all the justification I need for this particular bout of contradictory ideas wrestling in my mind.

Yesterday's fast did, in fact, correct for the gain I experienced the day before. Exactly. However, I don't fast for the sake of weight control. It just seems like a healthy thing to do. It is what humans evolved doing.
