I got a new iPhone. Drank the Kool-Aid.
There are new features I like. One thing that I don't like - is not the iPhone's fault or problem.
When I first got an Android phone (after dropping my Blackberry in a sink full of soapy water), I imported my contacts from multiple sources - my computer contact list, email contacts, previous phone contact list, and Facebook.
There were then, multiple listings and some duplicates, because sometimes there was different information on the same contact from the multiple sources. Over time, Verizon backups started causing more duplicates. Merging in some cases eliminated duplicates, but sometimes created even more.
When I got my new iPhone, my contacts were transferred. Unbelievably, this created even more multiple listings for the same contact.
But this time, I hope I have a cure. Contacts and photos are backed up on iCloud, where they can be edited. In a few cases, I have 16 (the current record) entries for a single contact.
I have been working for hours and hours over the last few days to manually eliminate the duplicates by editing the contacts on iCloud.
Wish me luck.
