June 9-10, 2012: Post 516 (2012 Day 161-162) - Cheat Days
Daily Comment
What a pleasant couple of days vacation I had in New York City. Not without its, er, frustrations, but the balance was very high on fulfillment.I got together with my brother, sister, and sister-in-law, all of us in the same room, breaking bread together (cheat day, lol), and sharing stories and ideas and just breathing the same air, for the first time since my father died 8 years ago.
I saw some dear friends. Briefly, but again, with some people, it's simply a matter of being able to have a face-to-face conversation.
My brother thinks that is the only valid and valuable way to communicate - he is only willing to compromise as much as a phone call, everything else: e-mails, texting, blogging, IMing, Skyping - is too cumbersome and too indirect. Meaning and importance are too lossy in those environments.
He is, in a sense, at least, completely correct. In another sense, in the absence of proximity, I still (selfishly) want something, even if it is only a fraction of 'real' communication and/or conversation.
It was raining when I left, and I had a little rain on the drive up, but the weather in the City was great, with no rain at all while I was out and about.
And the emotional climate was wonderful.

Diet Comment:
After a big late-night snack, I'm back above 200. Feh!
After consuming so much over two days, I have no doubt my weight for Monday's fast-day will be 'way up. So it goes.

Food Log
There is no point in me listing two days of almost continuous eating in sequential form. Below is a list of food I ate on Saturday and Sunday, in memory-order, that is to say, as I think of it. Also, I think I drank more coffee than I drank water, but I had a lot of both, and have no idea how much.
Two days of cheat day food:
- Lox, eggs, and onions.
- Hash-brown potatoes.
- Rye toast.
- Spinach and feta cheese omelet.
- Bacon.
- Fennel-celery salad.
- Mixed salad.
- Cobb salad.
- Quinoa and vegetable loaf.
- Pizza, many varieties.
- Turkey, bacon and avocado sandwich.
- Second Nature Wholesome Medley (dark chocolate chunks, roasted and salted peanuts, almonds and cashews, tart red cherries and dried cranberries).
- Miniature cakes: Carrot and chocolate-raspberry.
- Mixed nuts and fruit.
- Cinnamon coffee cake.
