I am a believer in the power of visualization - thinking of a something you want to manifest as though it were accomplished, and following up by making some movement in the direction of that result.Yes, it is new-agey and suspect, and no, I am not aware of any hard science to support my belief. All the evidence is anecdotal, and whatever scientific testing has been done, while somewhat supportive, does not identify visualization as a causative factor in a given result - although, again, the observational and correlative data is comforting that, at worst, it does no harm, and at best, it works to manifest the visualized result.
For me, though, the personal evidence - that is, the times when I have seen visualizations manifest - is compelling enough for me to set my usual skepticism aside.
Everything from recovering lost objects to finding parking spaces; from being accepted into a group to getting a job; I have experienced it all. Of course, sometimes, my experience is not positive - 'bad' things I can vividly imagine happen, as well, although, knowing that is the case, I try not to think too much about that kind of result.
How does it work? I think it works because the illusion of time and space is just that. There is only a 'now,' and the past and future are constructs that all actually exist in that same 'now'. So, when you visualize a 'future' event so that you internally 'feel' like it has already happened, you are creating that 'future' in the present, and only have to wait until you experience that future 'now'.
I have also found that it improves with practice. At least, it gets a little easier.

Yesterday's big/high calorie lunch and a snack put on a pound. OK. Today's 20-hour fast, even with a high-cal dinner, should fix that.

I don't know how I have managed to miss so many days but I've just read through them. Danny is having some hearing problems, too, and is going for a hearing test but I think loud music is to blame (and a history of almost continual ear infections). We should figure out how to meet up tomorrow. I will call later. love you, joan
Sorry to hear about Danny's hearing problems. They are a drag, and starting so young with him is depressing.
Easy to figure out how to meet up. I will be in the vicinity of Penn Station at the time your train is scheduled to arrive. Look for signs that point you to the 7th Ave exit, and call me from your phone just as you are getting out of the station. I will be looking for you.
Easy-peasy.
Love you, too!
Ken
