Daily Comment
Although I have made a decision to de-emphasize the 'diet' part of my blog, today it makes a comeback, because it is a day of achievement.
The main reason for my diet was health. I was taking some medications that were indirectly linked to my overweight condition. As the weight came off last year, we canceled two, that left three. One of those is a thyroid hormone replacement, which I have taken since my 30s, and will have to take for the rest of my life. One is for high blood pressure, and we halved the dosage earlier this year. The last is a statin for high cholesterol.
Today, I had a check-up with my doctor ( I had my blood work done 8 days ago).
Everything is great. My cholesterol levels are healthy, triglycerides down, thyroid levels right at the healthy mid-point.
So we canceled the statin. I am celebrating that today, by doing nothing special. Except, that is, for writing this blog entry.
PS: The apartment manager replaced my AC unit today. How cool is that? Real cool!

re:7/17/2012 - that happens just often enough to keep me interesting... and broke
I think I am a boring person, though usually not bored. I don’t have friends, am not affiliated with any religious, social, political, scientific, philosophical, athletic (etc.) groups or organizations. My participation in consumerism is pretty much (bordering on strictly) based on necessity. Until recently I avoided communicating in any way other than face to face, or by telephone, because putting my thoughts out there to be read is always an open invitation for my ego to jump in, claim ownership, and bask in the anticipated elevation of status that would be attributed to it by the admiring readers. I avoid situations that exist only in the realm of my egoistic mind, which, I believe to be a result of conditioning and social education.. It is easily awakened, and drags me in to an illusory world of duality, creating tension, conflict. karma. This acquired ego is blind to reality and ignorant of any purposes outside of its subjective desires. I have no goals and no ambition to achieve jn this life other than to essentially live it and not do harm to any aspect of it. Not very exciting or interesting to anyone else, but I’m not here for anyone’s entertainment. -andy
Great news on the meds. Andy, I am so glad to hear from you but do not want to make you suffer. I am not (I hope) judgemental and I trust you two to not be judgemental of me. I just like the connected feeling it gives me. Love you both
