Go figure.
In response, I'm turning my usual eating schedule on its head, with a protein shake for dinner and protein-vegetables-beans dishes for all three meals.

I'm a drummer's bass player - which is to say, I sit in the pocket as a rhythm section bassist. I'm not a guitarist, and I don't even want to play solos, and doubling guitar lines (a staple of heavy metal) is something I do only rarely, and only when asked. I can always tell when the bass player in a band is actually a guitarist playing bass lines. Why am I mentioning this? Because at a jam I went to last night, I got placed with a drummer - a nice guy, and a real music lover - who didn't seem comfortable with his instrument. His drumming was somewhat mechanical (I think there's a context in which that could be a compliment, but that isn't how I mean it), and he frequently lost the beat. This put me in a bind - how to be half of a rhythm section that was internally flawed. I wish I could say otherwise, but the resulting music, despite yoeman work by various guitarists and singers who were on the stage, was not especially musical.
There's a message somewhere in there about life. You take it as it comes, then move on.
