October 4, 2012 - Fast Day
Daily Comment
I am not sure how I manage to do so much nothing in a day.
Then, I wonder, at the same time, how I get done what I do.
At this point, you couldn't call me industrious.
You might call me lazy. That would be true, if you only looked at what I do at work, or in my apartment, where I constantly do the minimum necessary, and avoid doing more.
Of course, those are chores. The need they address is basic life support. Much of it gives me no real satisfaction, because life support, when your life is not under imminent threat, is rather abstract.
All that minimalism, sloth, and procrastination goes away as soon as I am doing something that gives me a sense of personal accomplishment and is a choice, not a necessity. Then, you actually might describe me as hard-working.

Good work. I feel everything I have to do as this enormous mountain I have to climb. No matter how small a thing it really is, I catastrophize, make it gigantic and then avoid it.
I know you didn't ask me to solve this problem, and I can't, but I would like to suggest that meditation might help with this.
Love you,
Ken
