Daily Comment
I am going to take this indolent day, this lazy day, this get-out-of-bed-early-on-a-weekend-day (well, relatively early, for a weekend) to mention how I'm destroying my diet this long holiday weekend. I have just decided, in the face of temptation, not to resist.

The holiday, before I go further, is Columbus Day, and I'm sorry, my Italian-American friends, but  the true history of Columbus' deeds compared to the mythology contraindicates any celebration, in my opinion.

Except, of course, that we are in a country run by gangsters, some of whose ancestors vastly preferred the myth, as a way of getting their foot in the door to America's banks, and, therefore, the real bosses of this great land of ours.

But I digress.

I cheated yesterday (Friday) from mid-afternoon to late evening. By all rights, I should have foregone today's cheat day.

Stop laughing.

I cheated today, of course. Was there ever any doubt? And I will cheat tomorrow, ordinarily a fast day, but I have a wedding to attend, I will be celebrating and my fast will be relegated to Monday.

I expect a fair amount of weight gain - in fact, I'm impressed that after the prodigious amount of forbidden calories consumed yesterday, today's wasn't greater than it was. Tomorrow will tell the continuing story.

That is all until tomorrow. There will be no breakdown of food eaten today, and no other comment.
