With today's pretty spectacular result, I am drawing some conclusions:

First, extra protein is in. My wakeup protein drink is a winner. Adding a little extra protein at dinner doesn't seem to hurt, either.

Second, guacamole is out except for my Free Day, when it is definitely in.

Lastly, I need more water than the typical recommendation every day. As I understand it, most recommendations are for 64-80 ounces (8-10 glasses) a day, more if there are athletics/exercise or high heat involved. Early on in the Slow Carb Diet, I was able to get by with around 80 oz and still lose weight. But I experienced some constipation with this amount. For the last two weeks, since I have been tracking it, I have been drinking more than twice the minimum (64 oz.) amount, and this week more than 3 times the minimum, and it is good for me.

In the next two days, if I lose 3.1 pounds, I will meet my weight goal for the first time in 4 weeks. We'll see.

Do you know that you can get water intoxication- a potentially lethal problem. I'd watch this hyper hydration. love you, Joan

I just looked that up - to be brief, I'm in no danger. A woman died recently from 'water intoxication' when she drank 2 gallons within 2 hours and never went to the bathroom. I don't drink quite that much, over 16-18 hours, and go to the bathroom... constantly, it seems. A bigger problem would be electrolyte balance and mineral loss, but I take supplements to deal with that.
