Well, the cavalry, as they say, has arrived. In the form of a tremendous 1-day weight drop. Look at this daily chart:
Yes, I almost touched goal weight, but look at the path I took getting there. After my close out Free Day April, we have Lose-Lose-Gain-Lose-Gain-Lose-Lose. And here's the thing: My eating and drinking were nearly identical all 6 days.
I suppose, when you look at the overall picture, as in the next two charts, the only conclusion to draw is that it is working, and I have to keep on with it. I have a mental target weight of 188, representing a 55-pound weight loss since the beginning of the year, and I'm only 15 pounds away.
Finally, after a realistic alignment of weight-loss expectations for the remainder of this period, I am trending to meeting my goal. |
Free Day Food
Breakfast
No pics this cheat day, boys and girls. I "took" the day off, because I was scrambling in the early going. I helped my friend Al move from the apartment we'd shared into his new house. Happy to say I had plenty of energy, but it made the eating, up to dinner, catch as catch can. Here are the things I ate, in the approximate order I ate them in, before lunch:
- A protein drink (24g of protein, and a T or so of fresh-made almond butter
- 2 natural sausages
- A mix of spinach, red lentils, and chipotle salsa
- 14 oz of grapefruit juice
- Some kind of breakfast sandwich
- A chocolate glazed donut
- A strawberry donut
Coffee and water were consumed the whole time.
Lunch
When the moving crew broke for lunch, since Gianni's Bronx Pizza is mainly set up for takeout (and sells no beer), and couldn't accommodate the 6 of us, we ended up at a convenient place that had a bar and a salad bar.

- 2 salads of mostly iceberg lettuce with some cucumbers and cherry tomatoes and blue cheese dressing.
- A little pasta salad
- A large amount of meat-lover's pizza
- A glass of pinot noir (not too good, but much better than nothing)
After lunch, when the move was finished and I was back home resting up, I had some walnuts with almond butter, and my last Mayan Heat raw chocolate bar.
Dinner
I went out to see 'The Fabulous Ripcords' a local roots band, playing at the Dinosaur BBQ and, of course, had dinner there. I had the Carolina BBQ sandwich with BBQ beans and fries. I do love me some barbecue on my Free Day.
