August 9, 2011: Day 72, Post 220

This is my daily weight chart since ending the Slow-Carb diet. 
This is Day 72 post-Slow-Carb, and day 4 of one week of Phase 1 from The 6-week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle.

I didn't comment yesterday, and if you read something into that, you were mistaken. It wasn't because of the 3/4-pound rise in weight (most of which came off today). It wasn't because of a lack of energy.

I just felt I had nothing to add to the conversation, and decided to add just that: Nothing.

Today, I feel largely the same. But rather than saying nothing, I want to give you a snapshot of what's going on, so you won't worry. This is also in the nature of a 'count your blessings' note.

When I look in the mirror, I see a pretty slim 'me'. I'm satisfied with where this 7+ month journey has taken me. If I'm not exactly ready to show off my 6-pack for a glamor shot, I am in the best shape I've been in in more than a decade (even though I'm not at the lowest weight I've been in in that time). But it hasn't been about weight. Thin does not equal healthy, and certainly, not all 'thin' is also good looking. I believe I am much healthier today than I was last New Year's Eve. That is very satisfying.

I am in the last few days of another experiment where I succeeded in dropping some weight in one phase but added weight in the next phase, by getting back to my lowest weight since starting my weight-loss effort at the beginning of the year. I feel good, and I feel good about that!

Finally, it was a good day that ended up with a little scheduling difficulty, namely that my second shake was eaten more than 6  hours after lunch. The third one happened at 11:30pm, and I was still hungry after (and these shakes are huge!). So, around midnight, I ended up eating another lunch. I expect to pay for that tomorrow.

Breakfast, Dinner and Snack
Protein shake (56g whey protein, 1 whole egg, 1/4C Coconut milk).


Lunch
Organic roast turkey, Spring Mix greens, Baby Spinach, and Red Cabbage, with balsamic vinaigrette.
Late-Night Snack
Smoked turkey, Spring Mix greens, balsamic vinaigrette.

Liquid Intake
    Coffee:  22 oz,   Water: 120+ oz.
