August 2, 2011: Day 65, Post 213

 Goal Weight: 188 pounds

Please leave a comment if you visit my blog. Thank you!

Today's Weight:        201.8 lbs
Yesterday's Weight:    202.6 lbs
Net Loss/Gain:         - 0.8 lbs
This is my daily weight chart since ending the Slow-Carb diet. July 9 was the 1st day of Phase 1, and July 23 the start of Phase 2 of The 6 week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle.
This is Day 65 post-Slow-Carb, day 11 of 14 of Phase 2 of The 6-week Cure for the Middle-Aged Middle.

Being up about 2 kilos over my best weight, reached less than 2 weeks ago, I guess I shouldn't be putting too much weight on this (pun intended), I have been losing and gaining the same 6or 7 pounds for the last 4 months. I am just thinking about my next step. What I'm planning on is going back to Phase 1 for a week, then starting the 'Cheat Your Way Thin' plan - which has been available online for a couple-or-three years now - looks like the most likely candidate.

I will discuss this plan soon, but the quick summary is this: One blowout (cheat) day, for maximum carbs and calories, followed by 6 days of varying low-to-medium carb/calorie meals, eating every 2-3 hours, ending with a protein shake.

It is a do-able diet, and it seems like it would fit easily into my lifestyle.

YOu sound discouraged. Don't be. You are doing great. It will come off. Maybe not as fast as you want but in the meantime, you are maintaing and not out of control. That is the part you want to master. Love you

Gerald,
Can I call you that, Mr. Rush? Thank you for your kind words - I'm glad we met up. Hopefully, we'll see each other again soon.

Joan,
Not discouraged at all - except in my quest to understand the results I'm getting. Going by the book, I should weigh about 6-10 pounds less than I do. Phase 1 is supposed to be a 'conditioning' phase - liver cleansing, mostly, with weight loss secondary. Phase 2 is about metabolic changes to lose weight, and reshape body composition. I think the body composition reshaping is happening to a small degree. The weight loss isn't happening at all.

As I've said, weight loss really isn't the primary goal, it's just the easiest measure. How I feel (very, very good) and what I see in the mirror (I'm liking it) are my primary non-measurable goals - but because they are not measurable, and because I have a clear memory (and even a picture) of what I weighed and how I looked when I was in my best physical shape, I am using that weight as a rough approximation for a goal.

So again, not discouraged, just looking for the catalyst to the next level, as I have been since I plateaued more than 3 months ago.

Love,
Ken
